Rice University’s Conference and Workshop Development Fund fosters the development of conferences and workshops that enhance the reputation and quality of scholarship across the University.
Faculty are encouraged to engage the various University institutes such as the Baker Institute, the Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering, the Ken Kennedy Institute, the Humanities Research Center, the Kinder Institute, Rice Space Institute, and the Smalley-Curl Institute, where appropriate.
Proposals that engage broadly across campus and that can include many constituencies such as graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged.
Awards are funded up to a maximum of $50,000 for an international conference and $10,000 for a more-focused disciplinary workshop.
No Conference and Workshop Development funds may be used for summer salary, purchase of research equipment, or reducing teaching responsibilities. Proposals with other additional funding sources may be viewed favorably.
